Micromax and Cyanogen are all set to launch the YU smartphone tomorrow, at 11:30 A.M in New Delhi. After an extensive marketing campaign on its social media channels, the second largest Indian smartphone manufacturer is finally going to launch its new device, the only one that can run the Cyanogen OS in this country. We’ve been hearing a lot about this device ever since the word first started to spread, and there are indicators that the price is going to be disruptive for the already disrupted Indian market. As far as promotions go, the YU seems to base its complete experience around the amount of customization that the user will be able to do, one of the strong selling points of Cyanogen.

As we had quipped earlier –

According to the images, the smartphone resembles the Coolpad Great God F2 that was launched in China few months back so this could come with similar specs, including a 5.5-inch HD display, 1.7Ghz MT6592 octa-core processor with MT6290 modem for 4G LTE, 2GB RAM, 16GB of internal storage with expansion slot, 13MP rear camera, 5MP front-facing camera, Android 4.4.2 Kitkat and a 2500mAh battery. It also has a Snapdragon 615 variant that has FDD-LTE support.

So, there is a fair idea on what to expect from this phone. The pricing, which is one of the most important factors deciding a device’s success is India, is also expected to be a disruption for the market, if the price is below Rs. 10,000. All said, we already know how the phone looks like, and have a fair idea of how it’s going to be priced. The surprise is thus limited to the new experience Cyanogen can offer. Will it be something different? Will Micromax have surprises in hardware? We will be able to find out tomorrow morning. Live stream link in the source link, and we will also embed in this post, when it goes live.
