HTC plans to launch entry-level 4G smartphones in the first quarter of 2015, according to a report from DigiTimes. It expects to ship twice the amount of products next year compared to this year, the report adds. This was revealed by Jack Tong, president of HTC North Asia. He also said that HTC would introduce single SIM variant of HTC Desire 820 in Taiwan.
HTC will start promoting entry-level smartphones and specially designated models online, at least in China and Taiwan. HTC recently launched Desire 620G dual SIM in India that has a Octa-Core processor, but we had not seen any budget smartphone from HTC with 4G LTE in India.
HTC started using MediaTek SoCs in their smartphones long back. Since MediaTek has some SoCs with built-in LTE such as MT6732 that is used in the recent ASUS Pegasus X002 budget smartphone, there are chances for HTC to use the same chip on their budget LTE devices. Hope we can see some budget 4G smartphone announcements from HTC at the MWC 2015 in March.
