Asus has announced Fonepad 7 (FE171CG), a refreshed variant of last year’s Fonepad 7 at the CES this year. It has a 7-inch (1024 x 600 pixels) display and is powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core Intel Atom Z2520 processor with PowerVR SGX544 GPU, similar to the Asus Fonepad 7 FE170CG that was launched in India last year, but this runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat) out of the box, comes with a 8-megapixel or 5-megapixel rear camera, 1GB or 2GB RAM depending on the region.
It is just 7.9mm thick and has a new design, compared to last year’s Fonepad 7 that was 10.7 mm thick. Memory of the tablet have also been upgraded. This year’s model comes in 8GB or 16GB SKUs depending on the region. It has 3G connectivity, dual SIM support and voice calling capabilities.

The Asus Fonepad 7 (FE171CG) comes in Black, White, Gold and Red colors. Asus will also sell MagSmart Cover for the tablet separately. No word on pricing or availability yet.
