Launched in 2009, the Israeli based start-up will shut down its operations on March 15 and the 30 member team of CloudOn will be joining Dropbox as a result of the acquisition. The Wall Street Journal has stated that this is Dropbox’s largest acquisition in terms of members.

The service which currently has 9 million users will not take any new users starting today. CloudOn allowed users to  edit, create and share files from Microsoft Office and others online. It is not known what plans Dropbox has after this acquisition. The cloud storage firm said it has over 300 million users, 70 percent of whom are located outside of the U.S.
