Twitter officially launches “While You Were Away” feature for iPhone users

Earlier this month, Twitter started rolling out “While You Were Away” feature for some users. Today, the micro blogging site has officially launched the feature for iPhone users.

As the name suggests, the feature will show a selection of best and important tweets the user has missed while he was away on your Twitter timeline. The micro blogging site will determine what tweets to show based on factors such as how many favorites or retweets a particular tweet received.

“Our goal is to help you keep up – or catch up – with your world, no matter how much time you spend on Twitter. With a few improvements to the home timeline we think we can do a better job of delivering on that promise without compromising the real time nature of Twitter.”

posted Twitter in the company blog.

Twitter says that Recap will appear less if you use Twitter a lot, but more if you use it less frequently.  This recent feature is similar to Facebook’s news feed that shows you “Top Stories” on the homepage. Twitter has stated that the latest feature is coming to Android and Web very soon.
