Dropbox has bought Pixelapse, a startup building collaboration tool for designers, for an undisclosed amount. Founded in 2011, Pixelapse will work towards integrating its service into Dropbox over the next year.
“Our new development efforts will be focused on bringing the same kinds of collaboration and workflow experiences that you’re used to in Pixelapse over to the core Dropbox product”.
posted Pixelapse in a company blog.
Pixelapse will continue to remain a standalone service for another year until it will merge into Dropbox. The start-up builds tools to improve the design process and make collaboration easier. It works across Windows and Mac on over 50 file formats covering apps like Adobe’s Photoshop and Illustrator, as well as Graffle and Sketch. Pixelapse simplifies version control and makes it accessible for designers to share and discuss their work with their friends and colleagues. This is Dropbox’s secong acquisition this month. The popular cloud storage service acquired mobile productivity start-up CloudOn earlier this month.
