Samsung Galaxy S4 Android 5.0 Lollipop update starts rolling out in India

Samsung has started rolling out Android 5.0.1 (Lollipop) update for the Galaxy S4 (GT-I9500) smartphone in India. It rolled out Android 4.4 (KitKat) update for the smartphone about one year back. Samsung has still not revealed the list of devices that would get the Lollipop update, but it started rolling out the update for Galaxy S5 and the Galaxy S4 users in some markets. It is surprising that the company has not rolled out the Lollipop update for Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 3 users in India yet.

The Android 5.0 Lollipop update brings all-new material design, quick notifications on the lock screen, enhanced performance and more. When it rolled out the update in Russia, Samsung said that some pre-loaded apps like Google Play Books, Movies and others will be removed to make space. Users can download them Google Play. It also said that the available internal memory will be less after the update.

The Android 5.0 update for the Galaxy S4 (GT-I9500) is 991.07MB and is available Over-the-Air (OTA) in India. It should also be available via Kies soon.
