Korean operator KT has announced that it has partnered with Samsung and Qualcomm to showcase world’s first LTE-H (HetNet) technology at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015 in Barcelona next week. LTE-H merges existing 150Mbps LTE-A and 450Mbps GiGA WiFi, offering top speed of 600Mbps.
LTE-H directly controls the WiFi connection from LTE stations, unlike software implementations. It promises seamless connectivity on the move automatically controlling the On/Off features of the WiFi connection. KT plans to start LTE-H pilot in South Korea by H1 2016 by combining its WiFi network and offering Gigabit connection speed at hotspots.
Last year Samsung achieved 940MB/second or 7.5Gbps data transmission rate over experimental 28GHz 5G network and also introduced Hybrid Adaptive Array Technology. It will also demo 5G network technologies that includes mmWave Wireless Backhaul, Full Dimension Multiple Input Multiple Output (FD-MIMO) and mmWave Mobile Radio Access at the Mobile World Congress 2015 next week.
