NVIDIA has announced its SHIELD gaming console at the Game Developers Conference (GDC). The console is powered by NVIDIA Tegra X1 processor with 256-core Maxwell architecture GPU, 64-bit CPU and runs on Android TV OS. It will have over 50 Android titles optimized for SHIELD, including Crysis 3, Doom 3: BFG EditionT and Borderlands: TPS. This is the the world’s first Android TV console, which delivers video, music, apps and games to the home, says the company.
NVIDIA GRID on-demand game-streaming service lets you stream popular titles such as Batman: Arkham Origins, GRID 2 and Metro: Last Light Redux at 1080p and 60 frames per second. NVIDIA promises new titles every week.
You can also share content from Android devices via Cast. It also has separate SHIELD Remote that has a microphone for Google voice search. The remote operates via Bluetooth.
