LG is rumored to be working on a new Nexus smartphone, as per a report from Korean media eToday. Google engineers are said to have met with LG executives earlier this month to describe the deal, said the report.
Earlier rumors had suggested that Chinese smartphone maker Huawei might provide the hardware for the next Nexus phone. Google’s Android engineers paid a visit to LG’s Display and R&D facilities in Korea apart from other units responsible for wireless charging parts, and Optical Image Stabilization.
LG was responsible for previously manufactured the Nexus 4 and 5, while the latest Nexus 6 was made by Motorola. Samsung provided the hardware for the two versions before that, and HTC built the original Nexus One. There is no word on about the next Nexus phone yet from Google.
