Microsoft is bringing updates to Outlook apps on Android and iOS. The apps are getting handful of features like revised people section, improved calendar, search and more.
First up, Outlook is transforming its People section to a complete address book. It has replaced “top contacts” view with a unified view or your contacts from all your email accounts. Selecting a contact lets you view their contact information, launch a new email, start a phone call or map your way to their location with a single click. The app also provides quick-clicks to easily find all the emails, meetings and files shared with the contact.
Moving on, Outlook now integrates full organizational directory in the People section. You will just have to type in the name of the person you are looking for in the search bar and then select Search Directory. This feature is also integrated into the email compose experience. Next up is the Calendar section that now shows a three-day view in landscape mode, as well as an improved day picker for creating events, support for zero-length meetings and the ability to remove cancelled appointments.
Now the improved search on your mobile device highlights your search term in the message list, creating a quick visual cue for finding that key email. The number of results is also see that lets you decide if you need to refine your query for a more targeted search. This feature is available on iOS and will come to Android soon. The update also adds an option to permanently delete messages and brings accessibility and localization improvements.
