LinkedIn acquires Refresh iOS app that helps you prepare for professional meetings

LinkedIn has acquired Refresh, a startup that provides predictive insights before professional meetings with its iOS app. The financial terms of the deal has not been disclosed.

Founded in 2011 by Bhavin Shah and Paul Tyma, Refresh is a digital briefing book that can be used to “discover common ground and build stronger relationships with people they were meeting.” The app syncs with a user’s LinkedIn or Facebook account and analyzes profiles, photos and other public data online as well as users’ email, calendar and notes to aggregate details about a particular person.

“Our joint passion for delivering insights that help professionals be more productive is what makes joining LinkedIn so exciting. Plus, LinkedIn gives us an opportunity to share insights with more than 347 million professionals across the globe. Our team will focus its efforts on providing LinkedIn members with more insights to help them better do their jobs.”

posted Refresh on a company blog.

The app will stop accepting new users today and will shut down completely by April 15. As a result of the acquisition, 12 team members from Refresh out of 15 is expected to join LinkedIn. The professional social network plans to build new features using the Refresh technology, although it is unclear if those features will be standalone apps or baked into LinkedIn.
