Dell introduced the Dell Venue 8 7000 Series tablet, the Venue 8 7840 last year. It went on sale in the US earlier this year at $399.99. We also demoed the tablet’s unique Intel Real Sense Snapshot Depth Camera recently. Here we have the unboxing of the tablet.

The tablet has a 8.4-inch (2560 x 1600 pixel) OLED display with minimal bezels on the sides and the top. There is a 2-megapixel camera and a large loudspeaker grill below the display on the bezel. It is powered by a 2.3GHz Intel Atom Z3580 processor with PowerVR G6430 GPU and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat). The tablet is just 6mm thick and it currently the thinnest tablet in the world.
The back is made of metal and glass. There is a large Dell branding on the metal back. It packs 2GB LP DDR3 RAM and our variant has 16GB of internal storage. It also has a microSD card expansion slot. It has WiFi 802.11 ac and Bluetooth 4.0 support.
There are two Intel RealSense Snapshot Depth Cameras on a black strip, below the Intel branding. This offers depth mapping, measurements and 3D editing. There is an 8-megapixel camera below that on a glass surface. The tablet has a 5670mAh built-in battery.
