Microsoft has announced that it will add Office Universal apps to Windows 10 phone preview later this month. The Office universal apps for Windows 10 phones so far include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
The company rolled out universal apps for tablets in February with the Windows 10 technical preview, while the Desktop IT pro and developer preview for Office 2016 launched in March. Both tablet and smartphone users will be able to view and edit documents across Office apps on their Windows devices. Commands and controls being placed at the bottom of the screen for easy one-handed use.
The collection of Office Universal apps shares the same code base, however each app will have a different interface, depending on the device being used. It must be noted that the release of the Office universal apps for Windows 10 for phones will itself be a preview and not a final product.
