Samsung America today announced the Galaxy Tab A for the customers in USA. The tablet is available in two different screen sizes – an 8 inch version and a larger 9.7 inch version.
The 9.7 inch (pictured above) and 8 inch (pictured below) tablets are identical in terms of specifications except for the screen size, physical dimensions and the battery capacity. Here are the highlights of both the devices:

- 1.5GB (Wi-Fi), 16GB internal memory, microSD (Upto 128GB)
- Android 5.0 (Lollipop)
- 5MP rear camera
- 2MP front-facing camera
- Dual speakers
- Dimensions: 166.8 x 242.5 x 7.5 mm (9.7″), 137.9 x 208.4 x 7.5mm (8”)
- WiFi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS + GLONASS
As of now only the Wi-Fi only variants will be made available for purchase. The LTE variants might be announced later on in the year. The 8 inch device is powered by a 4500 mAH battery while the 9.7 inch variant gets a larger 6000 mAH battery.
Both the tablets will go on sale in the USA on May 1st at a price of US$ 229.99 for the 8 inch model and US$299.99 for the 9.7 inch model. Both the models will be available in three different colours – White, Smoky Titanium and Smoky Blue. Samsung will also be releasing a special version of the Smoky Blue 9.7 inch tablet with an S-Pen on May 17th at a price of US$349.99.
