It’s that time of the year when Apple launches a new product and there’s some issue. People report it and coin a new term relating to the issue that’s happening. In this case we may see it being called Scratchgate. Now it’s the turn of the Apple Watch which apparently is easily scratched.
While there will always be two sides to the story and we’re not sure how exactly the owner handled the device but since a few users are already reporting it, there might a genuine issue here. Two users have taken photos of their Apple Watches that show scratches on the sides of the device. There’s no pattern and the scratches differ from user to user.
While gadgets getting scratched isn’t really something new and happens to many devices, these users report that the scratches have appeared despite them handling it carefully. One of the users said that he has owned his Apple Watch for less than 24 hours when he spotted the scratches. This seems to be an issue with the stainless steel edition which has a glossy finish and so far the sports model doesn’t seem to be at risk. We’re not sure if this is an issue with just the stainless steel model or whether its present on the Gold edition model as well. We guess we will know for sure in the coming weeks when more users have spent ample amount of time with their Apple watches.
