Xiaomi launched the Mi 4i smartphone last month in India for Rs 12,999. We have already seen unboxing, hands on, benchmarks and photo gallery of the phone. Now let’s compare the phone with last year’s Mi4 in this photo gallery.
The Xiaomi Mi 4i has a 5-inch 1080p fully laminated display from JDI or Sharp with 178-degree viewing angle, Corning OGS glass protection, is powered by a 2nd generation Octa-Core Snadpragon 615 processor and runs on MIUI v6 on top of Android 5.0 (Lollipop). It has 2GB RAM and 16GB internal memory. The Mi 4 also has a 5-inch 1080p display with Corning Gorilla glass protection and is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.5 GHz and Adreno 330 GPU. It has 3GB RAM and comes with 16GB and 32GB variants without expansion slot. The phone runs on Mi 4 runs on MIUI v5 ROM based on Android 4.4(KitKat).
The Mi 4i has 5MP front-facing camera with f/1.8 aperture and 80-degree wide-angle lens while the Mi 4 has 8-megapixel front-facing camera with Sony Exmor R BSI sensor and f/1.8 aperture.
Both the phones have three capacitive buttons below the display for back, home and recent apps.
The power button and volume rockers are present on the right side of the phone. The Mi 4i measures 138.1 x 69.6 x 7.8mm and weights 130 grams while the Mi 4 is 8.9mm thick and weighs 149 grams.
The Mi 4i is dual SIM phone while the Mi 4 is single SIM and the micro SIM card tray is present on the left side.
The Mi 4i has a 3.5mm audio jack on top while the Mi 4 has a 3.5mm audio jack along with a small Infrared LED.
The Mi 4i has a micro USB port at the bottom along with microphone while the Mi 4 has a micro USB port and loud speaker grill at the bottom.
The Mi 4i has 13 MP (Sony / Samsung sensor) with a aperture of f/2.0 along with a two-tone flash that helps you click more natural looking photos. It supports 1080p videos and real time HDR. The flash can also be used as a standalone torch. On the other hand Mi 4 has a 13-megapixel rear camera with Sony IMX214 BSI sensor, 6-element lens, f/1.8 aperture and 4K video recording.
The Mi 4i has a Mi branding and loudspeaker grill at the back while the Mi 4 has only the Mi branding at lower back.
The Mi 4i has matte back, has 4G support on both the SIM cards, WiFi 802.11ac and Bluetooth 4.1 LE, while the Mi 4 has glossy back, has 3G, WiFi 802.11ac and Bluetooth 4.0 LE. Both have GPS, GLONASS and Beidou support.
The Xiaomi Mi 4i is currently available in white and will soon be available in blue, yellow and pink colors while the Mi 4 is available only in white color in India.
