Apple App Store Categories Missing !

The Apple App Store refuses to show categories on the iPod / iPhone. When I tried to open the category pane , it just showed an blank area with no info.

At first I thought it must be some connectivity issue or something wrong with my device. But looks like many users are facing this problem.
