Basemark acquires benchmark unit from Rightware

Basemark today announced that it has acquired the benchmark business unit from Rightware, which was founded by Tero Sarkkinen five years ago. It offers performance measurement tools and services for smartphone, tablet and other embedded industries.

Basemark has partnerships with AMD, Intel, NVIDIA, Marvell, Microsoft, Qualcomm, Samsung and more. It has Basemark ES, Basemark OS and Basemark X for consumers. Most are available for Android, iOS and Windows Phone. All existing customers, licenses and agreements are transferred to Basemark exactly as they are, said the company. Co-founder Arto Ruotsalainen and rest of the Rightware benchmark team have all joined Basemark.

Tero Sarkkinen, the founder and CEO of Basemark, said:

I am immensely excited about this new chapter in my life and in the growth opportunities now available for Basemark as a separate entity. Although it has been very satisfying to help Rightware conquer the world with their user interface business, I saw that the company will continue to flourish even without myself.

It was a great opportunity for me to start something new. At the same time, I saw the potential of growing the benchmark business, but it really required a separate focus. With Mika and Seppo joining to help us develop and grow service business, I am now more excited than ever!
