Yahoo is giving Flickr a major overhaul. The photo sharing service is getting refreshed mobile apps along with a revamped website. The latest update bumps the mobile version to 4.0 and brings new tool to the apps.
Flicker said that the new tools are meant to help people take advantage of the 1,000GB of free storage that Flickr offers its users. First up, a revamped version of Camera Roll will allow users to view all the photos and videos you have ever uploaded to your Flickr account. The update will now sort your photo catalog by date or use a new “magic view” feature that automatically sorts your photos into categories, such as black and white, landscapes, screenshots and animals using image recognition. The feature will sort images into more than 60 categories so you can easily view similar photos at once.
Next up, Flickr will now automatically upload photos to your cloud account across devices. This means that a photo will automatically get backed up to Flickr as soon as you take it. All you have to do is turn on Auto-Uploadr on your mobile phone or tablet. One notable addition is the ability to share photos directly to Instagram. The Flickr mobile apps now get powerful unified search feature to show them results from their own photos, from the people they follow and from the more than 10 billion photos on the site.
