According to latest report, Qualcomm is making its first 10-core CPU just like the MediaTek’s new deca-core Helio X20 series processor.
As per a report by STJSGadgets citing an insider from Qualcomm on Monday, the Snapdragon 818 will be a deca-core chip with four low-power 1.2GHz Cortex-A53 cores, four high-power 2.0GHz Cortex-A72 cores and two mid-power 1.6GHz Cortex-A53 cores.
Just to note, the information is not official and is said to be from the nascent stage of development, so the specifications may change later.
To remind you, MediaTek last week announced that its deca-core MT6797 SoC’s mass production will begin this summer. The MediaTek MT6797 SoC is part of the chipmaker’s Helio X20 series. It features four cores of 1.4GHz Cortex-A53, four cores of 2.0GHz Cortex-A57 and two cores of 2.5GHz Cortex-A72. It also incorporates an ARM Mali-T880 MP4 GPU clocked to 700MHz, which according to MediaTek can encode/ decode H.265 4K/ 2K video at 30fps, and can power up to 1600×2560 pixel resolution displays.
