Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 support added to LG G4 spec list

In what can only be understood as miscommunication or perhaps a last minute licensing deal by LG, the company has sent word that the phone now officially supports the rapid charging standard. Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 2.0 technology enables a 0% to 60% charge in under 30 minutes. The technology effectively enables you to get enough charge on your phone to last an entire work day in the time it’ll take you to enjoy a good cup of coffee and is a feature that has become an integral part of every high end smartphone.

On the topic of the LG G4, the company had been pretty insistent on denying that their phone supported Quick Charge. The focus was more on the promise of replaceable batteries and the relatively fast 1.8A charger bundled in. Since there has been no change in hardware, we can only presume that LG simply hadn’t licensed the technology from Qualcomm. There had been a fair amount of feedback from technology media and quite an uproar by LG fans but we can only guess if that is the reason behind the change. All said and done, it is a great move by LG and certainly a winning situation for prospective buyers of the LG G4 no matter the reasoning behind it.
