Samsung Galaxy S6 vs Galaxy S5 Photo Gallery

Samsung took wraps off the Galaxy S6 at MWC 2015 in March this year. The company launched its flagship phone in India in the same month starting Rs. 49,900. We have already seen the unboxing of the phone, and now lets compare the phone with last year’s flagship phone, the Galaxy S5 in this photo gallery.

The Galaxy S6 sports a 5.1-inch Quad HD (2560×1440 pixels) 577 PPI Super AMOLED display and is powered by a Octa-Core ( Quad 2.1GHz + Quad 1.5GHz) Exynos processor. Running Android 5.0 (Lollipop), it has 3GB RAM and comes with 32GB, 64GB and 128 GB options without expansion slot. The Galaxy S5 has a 5.1-inch full HD (1920×1080 pixels) Super AMOLED display, powered by a Octa-Core Exynos 5422 (A15 1.9 GHz + A7 1.3 GHz) processor and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat) with a new Touchwiz UI. It comes with 2GB RAM, 16GB internal memory and an expansion slot that lets you expand the memory up to 64GB with microSD.

Both the phones have earpiece, Samsung logo and array of sensors at the front. The Galaxy S6 has a 5MP front facing camera while the Galaxy S5 has a 2.1MP front facing camera.

Both the phones have trademark physical home button at the center that work as a fingerprint sensor and capacitive buttons on either sides.

The Galaxy S6 has separate volume keys on the left while the Galaxy S5 has a single volume rocker on the left side with chrome finish.

Galaxy S6 has power button and nano SIM card slot on the right while the Galaxy S5 has the power button on the right. The S6 measures 143.4 x 70.5 x 6.8mm and weighs about 138 grams while the S5 measures 142.0 x 72.5 x 8.1mm, and weighs 145 grams.

The 3.5mm audio jack, micro USB port, microphone and loudspeaker grill is present on the bottom on the Galaxy S6. Since the phone has IP67 ratings for dust and water resistance, the micro USB slot on the bottom is covered by a protective flap. The primary microphone is also present on the bottom.

At the top the phone, the S6 and the S5 have IR LED for TV capabilities and a microphone. The S5 also has 3.5mm audio jack on the top.

Both the phones have 16MP rear camera with LED Flash, OIS and a heart rate monitor. However, the S6 has a glass back cover on the back while Galaxy S5 has dotted pattern back.

Both the phones have the Samsung branding at the center but the S5 has additional Galaxy S5 branding and loud speaker grill at the bottom.

The Galaxy S6 has a non removable back cover while the Galaxy S5 comes with a removable back cover. The non removable battery on S6 is 2,550mAh while the S5 has a removable 2,800mAh battery. Another difference between the two devices is that the S6 does not support micro SD card while the S5 does.

The Galaxy S6 is available in white pearl, black sapphire, gold platinum and blue topaz while the S5 comes in Charcoal Black, Shimmery White, Electric Blue and Copper Gold colors.
