YotaPhone 3 and 2C under development – Might be announced sometime this year

While the YotaPhone 2 was announced back in February 2014 during MWC, the smartphone was delayed quite a bit and has only recently become available in many markets. In fact the YotaPhone 2 was announced prior to the original YotaPhone was made available worldwide. However it seems that the company is already working on the follow up to the YotaPhone 2 and this time there will be two devices – YotaPhone 3 and YotaPhone 2C.

YotaPhone’s Managing Director for North and South America, Mr Matthew G Kelly said that they planned on releasing the two phones in the not so distant future. The YotaPhone 3 will build on the basic idea of the YotaPhone 2. It will carry a newer and better e-ink display on the back, a faster processor, more RAM, sharper display and better camera. The design will also be thinner than the current generation.

YotaPhone 2C would be a cheaper version, probably a slightly upgraded version of the current gen device judging by the name but sold alongside the YotaPhone 3. While no specific timeline has been revealed, he did say that they could be introduced into the market as early as this year but they will first have to sell their current device before releasing the next generation devices.
