It official, Google search ads will soon feature a “buy” button. Omid Kordestani, SVP and Chief Business Officer, Google has confirmed that the “Buy” button will be soon integrated on mobile search results.
“There is going to be a buy button soon. It’s imminent,” said Kordestani said at the Code conference in Southern California. The news comes a week after a report from the Wall Street Journal said the search giant wanted to add the buy button. As per the report, the buy buttons will initially be available only on mobile searches and that the feature will appear alongside paid search ads, but not “organic” search results.
Previously it was stated that the buy button will not appear on non-sponsored results generated from Google’s basic search algorithm. If a user clicks on the buy button, they will be taken to another Google page that will allow them to complete the purchase. This page will allow users to choose specific details about the item, such as color and size, and then select a shipping speed. The latest move from Google is aimed at e-tailers like Amazon and eBay.
