Google introduced Android M at the Google I/O 2015 few hours back. Now it has released M Developer Preview for Nexus 5, 6, 9, and Player (for TV), as well as emulator, as it promised. Android M brings new app permissions model which streamlines the process for users to install and upgrade apps, App Links, which improves upon existing link handling by allowing app developers to associate an app with a web domain they own, ‘Now on tap’ that offers contextual information in one click in Google Now, Android Pay & Fingerprint, Doze and App Standby power-saving features, new assist technology and more.
Android M also adds adoptable external storage devices such as SD cards, automatic encrypted backup feature for apps ( up to 25MB per Android app) in Google Drive and lots more features.
The Android M Developer Preview is available for download from the Android Developer’s website for these devices. Once you have flashed, it is upgraded automatically with the next preview release through over-the-air (OTA) updates, says Google. This is the first preview, second preview will be available late June or early July, and the third preview will be available late July. The final release will be available later in Q3.
