Coolpad Dazen X7 Hands On and Photo Gallery

Chinese manufacturer Coolpad on Thursday entered India with the launch of two Dazen brand smartphones – the Dazen X7, and the Dazen 1 priced at Rs. 17,999 and Rs. 6,999 respectively. Both smartphones will only be available online on Snapdeal from June 9.

Upfront, the design of Dazen X7 seems heavily inspired from smartphones by other Chinese manufacturer such as Gionee and Vivo. The front and back of the X7 is made of Corning Gorilla Glass 3, and company says that it has been stiffened further for more solidity. The sides and the chassis frame are made of aircraft grade aluminum.

We found the Dazen X7 to be an average looker and Indian market definitely has better looking devices than this, at even lower price point. The handset measures 146x74x6.5mm and weighs 141 grams.

The Dazen X7 features a 5.2-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) Super AMOLED display, which is very reflective and prone to fingerprints. The smartphone is powered by an octa-core 1.7GHz MediaTek MT6595 processor coupled with 2GB of RAM. It runs on Android 4.4.2 Kitkat with company’s own custom CoolUI 6 skin on top. The UI looks and feels quite similar to Xiaomi’s MIUI (see below).

At the back, the Dazen X7 packs a 13-megapixel Sony IMX214 sensor (f/1.8) with OIS and dual-LED flash and an 8-megapixel font-facing camera. The handset includes 16GB if inbuilt storage, which is can be expandable via microSD card (Second nano SIM slot can be used as a microSD slot).

The three capacitive touch buttons (back, home, app switcher) at the bottom sits within the screen. Right side of the smartphone includes two micro-SIM slots and the power/ lock key.

The volume rocker key is located on the left edge, 3.5mm headphones jack is at the top, and Micro-USB/ data transfer port and two speaker grills is on the bottom edge of Dazen X7.

Connectivity options on the Coolpad Dazen X7 include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, GPS/ A-GPS, Bluetooth 4.0 and FM radio. The handset is backed by a 2700mAh non-removable battery, which is rated to deliver up to 8 hours of talk time and 150 hours of standby time.
