Google Keyboard update syncs custom dictionary, removes some features

Google Keyboard is being updated with a couple of new features. The latest update that bumps the version to 4.1 adds the ability for users to sync your personal dictionary with your Google account, so you can share it across devices.

In order to sync a personal dictionary, users will have to simply select “Google Keyboard Sync” from the new Accounts & Privacy setting and then select a Google account they would like to backup your dictionary to.  A new option to delete all synced keyboard data from its servers, as well as a toggle for sending usage statistics to Google has been added.

Moving on, users can now access the emoji on physical keyboard by pressing the Alt Key. The “Emoji for physical keyboard” setting is enabled from the keyboard advanced settings. Google has removed phrase input gesture typing and hence you will not be able to swipe entire phrases by sliding your finger down to the space bar. The auto correct level like modest, aggressive, or very aggressive has been removed and you are now left with only choice of mere on or off. Google Keyboard was last updated with Material Design themes in November last year
