HTC announces One ME – An M9+ variant with a plastic body and no depth-sensing rear camera

HTC has just announced the One ME in China and it is possibly best described as a version of the HTC M9+ with a plastic body and without the secondary rear camera. The device is still quite high end in terms of specifications.

It still packs a 5.2″ IPS display with 1440p resolution and is still powered by a Helios X10 octa-core processor from Mediatek. The 3GB of RAM still remains and users still get 32GB of storage as well as a microSD card slot for expansion.

There is a 20.7 Megapixel rear camera like the M9+ but there is no depth sensing secondary camera here. The front facing camera is an Ultrapixel camera with a maximum aperture of f2.0. The device comes pre-loaded with Android Lollipop 5.0 with HTC Sense UI on top. It has support for 4G LTE and Dual-SIMs (nanoSIM). It also has a fingerprint sensor in the home button.

The dimensions remain identical to the M9+ at 150.99 x 71.99 x 9.75 mm but the weight has been reduced from 168 grams to 155 grams due to the plastic build. We aren’t quite sure what HTC is planning to achieve with this new model but it is most likely to be a China only device and wont make it overseas.
