Users of the Motorola Moto X 2013 variant are in luck as the update to Lollipop for their smartphones should be available pretty soon according to David Schuster who is a Motorola employee.
In his Google+ post, he mentions that the device is currently undergoing soak tests in France and Germany. It is also expected to open up to customers in Brazil and USA for soak testing soon along with a full deployment a week after that.
He also states that they’re currently testing with various carriers as well so even carrier branded/locked devices shouldn’t have any issues in receiving the upgrade. However, such handsets could take a bit longer to receive the update as compared to the unlocked and unbranded variants of the device.
It is good to see that Motorola is paying attention to its older devices as well and even the carrier specific variants. We will let you know when the update does get pushed out and the changes it brings along with it.
