Google is all set to release Hangouts 4.0 for Android and Android Wear. Folks over at Android Police has released a first look at the revamped UI of both versions of Hangout 4.0.
Sticking to the Material Design features, new Hangouts will get an enhanced UI throughout the app with slide-out drawers, little animations and more. The floating action button aka FAB has been added which lets you launch video calls, or create a group chat. Within conversations, the messages now have rounded corners and dedicated buttons are present for attachments like emoji, pictures, camera, stickers and location sharing. Hangouts has taken a cue from the desktop app and now users can set statuses and even change them.
Google has also made tweaks to the chat screen by making it more cleaner. The messaging threads have also been refreshed with more rounded chat bubbles, the removal of time stamps and the addition of your photo on every message. Also, the incoming message will now be green in colour and your reply will be in white.
Moving to Android Wear, Hangouts 4.0 will let you scroll through and browse through all of your message threads, reply to messages and view the entire history of any given conversation. There is a static green bar at the top of the messages list that lets you switch between accounts. Users can choose a voice or emoji response on the reply screen or keep scrolling to use a preset quick reply. It is expected that the app will get support for voice commands before the official release.
