Google is revamping Google Trends by introducing real time data to its services. The company claims that this is the biggest update to Google Trends since 2012.
The update brings minute by minute information rolling through in real time and is based upon billions of searches on Google. The Google Trends homepage has been redesigned and now highlights stories that are trending in Google Search and on YouTube. The new homepage will be available in 28 countries starting today and Google said it will add more in coming days. Google’s Material Design feature are also seen on the revamped homepage.
“You can now find real-time data on everything from the FIFA scandal to Donald Trump’s presidential campaign kick-off, and get a sense of what stories people are searching for. Many of these changes are based on feedback we’ve collected through conversations with hundreds of journalists and others around the world—so whether you’re a reporter, a researcher, or an armchair trend-tracker, the new site gives you a faster, deeper and more comprehensive view of our world through the lens of Google Search.

Users will also be able to get insight on more than one billion searches that happen every month on Google, see real-time information on a given topic, and search for data from a specific time period. Moving on, Google is adding in-depth research on niche topics to Trends and they will also feature curated data sets created by the Google News team.
