Samsung launched two new mid-range tablets, the Galaxy Tab A and the Galaxy Tab E in India at an event in Bangalore earlier today. We got to check out both the tablets at the event. Here is the hands-on impressions and a quick hardware walk-through of the Samsung Galaxy Tab A that is priced at Rs. 20,500.

The Tab A has a 8-inch XGA display with a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels with a pixel density of about 160 ppi and a 4:3 aspect ratio. It has 4G LTE support with support for LTE FDD bands – 700/850/900/1800/2100/2600 and TDD LTE band – 2300. It has an earpiece on the top for voice calling. There is a 2-megapixel camera on the front. It has Samsung’s signature home button below the display along with menu and back buttons. It runs on Android 5.0.2 (Lollipop) with Samsung’s own UI on the top.
There is a SIM card slot, microSD card slot, volume rockers, power button and a secondary microphone on the right side. It has 2GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage. It measures 137.9 x 208.4 x 7.5mm and weighs 320 grams.
There is a primary microphone, microUSB slot, 3.5mm audio jack and a loudspeaker grill on the bottom.
There is nothing on the top or the left side of the tablet. It has WiFi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1 and GPS.
The back has smooth finish and has a 5-megapixel auto focus camera. There two small bushes on the back so that you attach a case.
It is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core 64-bit Snapdragon 410 processor with Adreno 306. Under the back cover there is a 4,200mAh built-in battery. It comes with 2GB of free 4G data for Airtel customers for two months. The tablet will be available in Smokey Titanium and White and goes on sale in the country on June 20th.
