Yahoo has partnered with third party keyboard TouchPal for improved mobile search capabilities for Android users. The partnership brings tight integration with the popular TouchPal keyboard for one touch access to the Yahoo Search ecosystem.
“Since we launched ‘Yahoo Search in Apps’ at our mobile developer conference in February, we’ve been actively expanding our partnerships in this are. We’re excited to integrate Yahoo search into TouchPal’s keyboard to enhance their users’ experience and provide new monetization opportunities.”
said Ian Weingarten, senior vice president, Head of Global Partnerships at Yahoo.
This integration with TouchPal will roll out initially in the U.S. and will give more than 16 million Android users direct access to Yahoo Search through the mobile keyboard. A single tap on the expanded keyboard will pop open a search box no matter what application you are in. You can then tap in your search query which will bring you to a Yahoo Search page.
With the integration with TouchPal, users can open and share links, images and videos and will also get the ability to translate content into over 40 languages. The company also announced that it will continue working closely with Touchpal to bring more features to Yahoo Search.
