Apple To Launch iPhone HD And CDMA iPhone This Year?

Here is something, that may come as a surprise for most of us. According to the Wall Street Journal, Apple may launch two different versions of iPhone this year. Apple is currently developing the next generation iPhone which is rumored to be named as “iPhone HD” and a CDMA version of the iPhone for the Verizon.

According to John Gruber, the next generation of iPhone will have the A4-family CPU system-on-a-chip (SoC), 960 x 640 resolution display, a front facing camera and Apple’s latest iPhone OS 4.0 with third party multi-tasking support.

The resolution of iPhone HD is double to that of current iPhone’s resolution. The current iPhone has a 480 x 320 resolution, while the next generation iPhone will have a 960 x 640 resolution, which means that you can easily watch HD videos on the iPhone HD. This handset is rumored to be announced on June 22, 2010.

Apple is also planning to launch a new iPhone for CDMA wireless network. CDMA is used by Verizon and Sprint Nextel Corp in the US. CDMA iPhones will be manufactured by Pegatron Technology. The mass production of the CDMA iPhone will start from this September.

The next generation iPhone (iPhone HD) will be manufactured by Hon Hai Precision Industry, a Taiwanese contract manufacturer, which is the same company that manufactured for the previous iPhones.
