OnePlus 2 will pack 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM

OnePlus continues their old tradition of revealing the specifications of their upcoming hardware in bits and pieces. Today’s reveal focuses on the built in RAM on the handset. The company took to their forums once again to announce that the upcoming OnePlus 2 will have 4GB of built in RAM.

While not an absolutely new feature, Asus can lay claim to that, it is certainly a nice feature to have in terms of future proofing. 4GB of RAM should ensure that you won’t have any issues with heavy multitasking. The other advantage is that the phone is equipped with LPDDR4 RAM which brings with it lower power consumption and higher bandwidth. The operating voltage has been dropped down from 1.2V to 1.1V which might seem like a small change but will certainly assist in battery gains. The switch to LPDDR4 also doubles the bandwidth to as high as 32GB/s which means that everything from app launches to switching between apps will be smoother. It’ll also help in multimedia centric features like 4K video recording, playback as well as slow motion video. All in all, the combination of a fast Snapdragon 810 chipset and 4GB of RAM means that OnePlus certainly seems to be gunning for top of the line hardware on the OnePlus 2. The phone will be revealed on 27th July.
