The BlackBerry will be on offer from Tata by October 2008.
Despite the controversy courted by the BlackBerry by the Department of Telecommunications, Government of India, Tata has undertaken to stand up for any policy changes that the government may undertake.
Managing Director of Tata Teleservices, Anil Sardana, said that “We have conveyed to the government that we will be launching BlackBerry service enabled handsets on our network and that we will abide by whatever decision is taken over security related concern.”
Reliance Communications, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone-Essar are other telecom companies that provide BlackBerry service in India.
