YouTube has updated Offline videos with a couple of important features. The latest update bumps the version to 10.28 and brings few UI tweaks, video resolution options and more.
First up, YouTube is now adding lower quality video option for Offline viewing. Users can now download videos with 144p resolution which takes less space on your device. This will be helpful for users with storage limitations on their device. The video quality type now also offers information about the size in front of it. In addition, the app is getting a cleaner UI that focuses more on information and uniformity. Finally, Google is also working on adding voice command support to the YouTube app which will allow users to control playback of videos with a varying set of phrases and commands.
Google had announced in September that YouTube will get Offline videos and they were officially launched in India in December last year for Android and iOS. Offline videos lets users download and save videos that can be watched later without using up data. The feature is aimed at users with less data connectivity. The latest update for Offline video is not officially announced by Google but is available via apk.
