Microsoft Office Mobile Apps for Windows 10 released

Microsoft has officially released Office Mobile apps for Windows 10. The Office Mobile apps comprises of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote and are aimed at Windows tablets.

The Office Mobile apps have been built from scratch to run on touchscreen devices like tablet and small screen devices especially. They also come with One Drive integration. First up, Word gets all the core formatting commands, styles, fonts and spell check tools. You can insert tables, pictures, text boxes, hyperlinks, and add headers and footers with simple touch gestures. There is a Read mode view that improves readability by adjusting font sizes and allowing you to zoom on charts and tables with a quick tap. Finally there is Smart Lookup that is powered by Bing, which brings additional online resources like images and web references directly into your document to give you deeper insights and new ideas.

Moving on, Excel gets Recommended Charts feature that is ideal for smaller screens as it offers to visualize your data with just a few taps. There is also the addition of modern templates tuned for mobile scenarios. In case of PowerPoint, the app gets a new Presenter View for making Presentations easier. Also present is the laser pointer and new ink feature will let you focus on key points of the presentation. Finally, OneNote which is pre-installed on Windows 10 will automatically saves your work and synchronizes changes made by everyone working in the notebook.

Microsoft said that it will release Office 2016 for Windows desktops and Office Mobile for Windows Phones are scheduled for a fall release.
