Huawei ATH-AL00 gets certified on TENAA – Comes with sliding camera system

A new Huawei smartphone with the model number ATH-AL00 has passed the Chinese certification agency TENAA. It features a unique sliding camera system which ingeniously houses the front facing camera unit.

Users can slide the rear camera unit up from the housing and that will reveal the front camera as well as a Dual-LED flash. The main objective of this is to reduce the bezel size on the front above the display. Plus it looks really cool if you ask us. We expect it to have a locking mechanism which would prevent the module from sliding back into the phone’s body unless you intend to do so.

There’s a large button on the side that unlocks the module and that could potentially be used as a fingerprint scanner as well. The device also has a camera shutter button so one thing that’s sure is that this device is camera centric. While the TENAA listing doesn’t provide much insight regarding the handset’s specifications, it is reported to have Huawei’s own Kirin processor as well as 3GB or 4GB of RAM.

There will also be another variant of the phone with model number ATH-AL00H with 16GB memory and 3GB of RAM or 64GB memory and 4GB of RAM. The device also seems to have a dual-SIM slot and will most likely support 4G LTE as well.
