BlackBerry Passport Silver Edition announced, eschews Polycarbonate for Stainless Steel

The BlackBerry Passport remains one of the most intriguing and polarising devices out there. With a completely unique form factor that was geared towards the jet setters out there, the device rarely found acceptance amongst mainstream users. On that note, the company has a new variant that promises to make the handset the darling of CEOs and high profile executives all around.

The BlackBerry Passport Silver Edition as the name suggests is made of stainless steel. It packs a refined design which really is just a new steel frame and a soft touch diamond back cover. Beyond the aesthetics, there is absolutely nothing new here. The specifications include a 4.5″ 1440×1440 resolution display. Powering the show is a 2.2Ghz Snapdragon 801 processor paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB storage. There’s a rear facing camera available as well on this BlackBerry 10 powered device. The phone is now available at a price point of $549 and will ship with a $130 accessory pack for free as a launch offer. There’s no word on an Indian launch yet. Worth noting is that while the Passport Silver Edition looks like a fantastic device, we’d recommend readers to wait a bit for the impending dual edge slider which brings back a BlackBerry Torch like form factor with modern hardware.
