Blackphone 2 launch scheduled for September

Silent Circle acquired Geeksphone earlier this year and announced their intention to launch the Blackphone 2. Announced at MWC, we are getting an update that the device will now be available starting September.

The follow up device has seen a lot of changes and improvements across aesthetics and internals. Indeed, it would be fair to say that the device appears to be a modern competitive handset atleast on paper. Specifications include an unspecified octa core processor paired with 3GB of RAM. The Blackphone 2 will have a larger and higher resolution display with the 1080p resolution spread across a 5.5inch panel. There’s a substantial improvement in storage too
which has been bumped up from 16GB to 32GB. The key factor ofcourse is PrivatOS that is a security centric, enhanced version of Android. The phone will ship with the Silent Suite of applications onboard which include secure solutions for text messaging, contacts, conference calls and more. The enterprise centric device will be available starting September at an undisclosed price point. Company statements however suggest that the phone should be priced similar to the first generation model that was available  at $649.
