Apple has partnered with Cisco to make it easier for business to use iPhones and iPads. The latest partnership will create a fast lane for iOS business users by optimizing Cisco networks for iOS devices and apps.
The duo will jointly work on technology to help workers with iPhones and iPads better exploit Cisco’s collaboration products, including its video- and Web-conferencing services. Cisco networks and iOS devices will be optimized so that they work together more efficiently and reliably. With Apple’s support, Cisco will deliver experiences specially optimized for iOS across mobile, cloud, and premises-based collaboration tools such as Cisco Spark, Cisco Telepresence and Cisco WebEx in order to deliver seamless team collaboration and reinvent the meeting experience.
“Together with Cisco, we believe we can give businesses the tools to maximize the potential of iOS and help employees become even more productive using the devices they already love.”
said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO.
iPhone users could click on a calendar appointment, and immediately start a videoconference or Cisco’s Spark chat application, instead of having to pull up each separately. iPhone users’ personal contacts can be integrated with directories on their desk phones. Last year, Apple collaborated with IBM to jointly create apps for the workplace, while IBM employees help sell and support Apple devices with corporate clients.
“Through this engineering and go-to-market partnership, we’re offering our joint customers the ability to seamlessly extend that awesome Cisco environment to their favorite iOS devices. Together, we’re going to help teams achieve higher levels of productivity and effectiveness.”
said Cisco Executive Chairman John Chambers.
