Flipkart is testing a new hyper-local service that delivers orders within hours. Dubbed as ‘Flipkart Nearby’, the service is currently being tested in Bangalore.
Flipkart Nearby offers a wide range of products varying from daily use items like toothpaste, soap, groceries to branded personal and baby care products. Users can choose from various categories like Branded food, Groceries and staples, Beverages, Breakfast, dairy and eggs, Household supplies, Personal care, Health and Wellness and Baby care. At present, Flipkart Nearby service is live in Koramangala, HSR Layout, BTM Layout, Ejipura, Jayanagar, JP Nagar and Bellandur areas of Bangalore and will soon expand to more areas. The service delivers your orders 7 days a week from 10AM to 8PM.
It was reported in July this year that Flipkart is testing an online delivery program dubbed as ‘f Qck’ and has tied up with several local merchants for the same. Flipkart Nearby looks like the same service but the company has gone with a different name. As the service is currently in testing phase, it works on an invite system. After downloading the app from the Google Play Store, users will have to enter their mobile number and wait for an invite. Users who want instant access for the service can request an invite from a friend who is already using Nearby.
The online food delivery market in the country has seen an impressive growth of 40 per cent in 2014 touching Rs 350 crore, as per a latest report from IAMAI. Grofers, PeperTap and BigBasket are some of the hot players in the online grocery delivery online market. Amazon announced Kirana Now in March this year that also offers same day delivery for everyday needed items.
