Cortana to be deeply integrated into Cyanogen OS, says Cyanogen CEO

Microsoft’s digital voice assistant Cortana will be deeply integrated into Cyanogen OS, according to Cyanogen CEO Kirt McMaster. He revealed the same in an interview with the International Business Time.

McMaster said in the interview that his company is closely working with Microsoft to deeply integrate Cortana into future version of the Cyanogen OS that is based on Android. He added that Cortana is currently available as an app on Android, but in order for it to make a real difference, it needs to be able to be integrated at the OS level so that its full potential can be leveraged.

“Natural language coupled with intelligence is very important but as an application it doesn’t rally work because you need to be embedded into the framework of the OS because that is where you get all the signal from the services that makes that intelligence smarter,”

said McMaster in the interview.

Cortana is already present on Windows 10, Windows 10 Mobile, Windows Phone 8.1, Android and iOS. It was rumored in January that Microsoft is planning to invest in Cyanogen. Following this, the duo partnered to integrate several Microsoft apps on its Cyanogen OS. Cortana’s ability to deep-link into and control content in many mobile apps could help Cyanogen OS. Cortana is Microsoft’s answer to Apple’s Siri and Google Now. It offers personalized results for weather, news, sports, and other dynamic web content.
