LG is always one of the forefront innovators of technology especially when it comes to smartphones. They were one of the first to incorporate the Snapdragon 800 processor into a smartphone much before anyone else with their LG G2 smartphone and were also one of the first companies to feature a 2K display on a smartphone with the G3. The G4 is the latest smartphone from LG in the G series and it is an entertainment powerhouse. Why? Let’s take a look.

On paper, the LG G4 seems to pack the same screen as its predecessor, the G3. Both smartphones have a 5.5″ 2K display. However, a closer look will reveal various differences. The G4 makes use of a Quantum IPS display. But what does that mean for the user?
The Quantum IPS display has several advantages over a regular IPS display. Firstly, the colour gamut offers 20% wider colour production, is 25% brighter and has 50% more contrast in comparison to the G3 display. LG has collaborated with DCI (Digital Cinema Initiatives) and made sure that the display reproduces 98% of the DCI colour gamut which means more accurate colours. That essentially means the visual experience is much more immersive and not to mention the fact that the G4 display manages to do all this while consuming lesser power than the G3.
The LG G4 also packs in an IR blaster that will allow you to control your TV and other media appliances using just your phone. This is something that the latest phablets from Samsung, the Galaxy S6 edge+ and Note5 lack.
Not to mention the fact that the LG G4 also has a SlimPort that allows the user to stream 4k video content over HDMI cable and even control the TV using the same medium. While many other smartphones have the ability to stream content wirelessly, sometimes traditional methods often work the best.
All this is packed into a tiny footprint as it has a screen to body ratio of 72.5%. Although, it is marginally bigger than the LG G3, the smartphone is nearly 10mm shorter than the iPhone 6 Plus and over 12mm shorter than the Oppo N3 both of which pack 5.5 inch screens.
The LG G4 also has really good audio quality and the battery is removable and easily replaceable in case it runs out of juice. All these factors contribute to the fact that the G4 is an entertainment powerhouse that offers things that most its competitors don’t.
