Last month Facebook previewed the updates that will be added to Notes. Today, the changes are officially being rolled out to Notes with new features and a revamped UI.
Users can now add longer posts along with large cover photos while making Notes. You can now insert photos with captions and also format your text with headers, quotes or bullets. The entire look of Notes brings it in line with Medium as it looks more elegant and gives it a blog like feel.
We’re rolling out an update to make notes on Facebook more beautiful and customizable. Notes are now an even better way to write a longer post and share with anyone — whether it’s a small group of friends or everyone on Facebook.
said Facebook in a company blog post.
The new version of Notes gets rid of the sidebar with ads and other suggestions. Facebook had originally launched Notes in 2006 but it got overshadowed by constant updates to the social network and hence never picked up. Notes had received a major update in 2010 and a makeover was much due. The latest updated version of Notes can be seen across both mobile and Web, although the composition features are only available on desktop.
