Android Lollipop adoption hits 23.5%

Google has updated its monthly Android distribution numbers for the month of October. Android Lollipop adoption is increasing every months and reached 23.5% this months.

Android Lollipop was present on 21% of all devices in September so it has increased 2.5% since a month. KitKat is down a little again, from 39.2 percent to 38.9 percent, and Jelly Bean is now at 30.2 percent, down from 31.8 percent. Meanwhile, Ice Cream Sandwich has decreased to 3.4% from 3.7% and Gingerbread has gone down to 3.8% from 4.1%. Surprisingly, Froyo is still present on  0.2% of Android devices.

Google has started rolling out it’s latest Android OS 6.0 Marshmallow on Nexus devices earlier this week so it is not present in the distribution chart this month but it will make its debut next month for the first time. The Lollipop adoption has been impressive and is continuing to grow each month as more and more smartphone makers are releasing updates.
