Motorola Moto X Style Initial Impressions

Motorola first announced the Moto X Style back in July, alongside the Moto X Play, and launched it in India last week. The Lenovo-owned company decided to bring two variants of the Moto X instead of a single one, so both the phones can be seen as the successor to last year’s Moto X.

To remind you, Motorola has already launched the mid-range Moto X Play in India starting at Rs. 18,499. The phone was launched last month and you can checkout our unboxing and full review of the Moto X Play.

As for the pricing of Moto X Style, it is priced at Rs. 29,999 for the 16GB variant and the 32GB variant for Rs. 31,999. It comes comes in Black and White colour options. It is up for pre-order on Flipkart and is expected to be available from October 25th.

With almost negligible side bezels, the big screen Moto X Style fits well in hands. It boasts of a 5.7-inch Quad-HD (1440×2560 pixels) TFT LCD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, which is quite vibrant but the coating on top is highly reflective and makes it hard to view in direct sunlight.

Inside the Moto X Style is a powerhouse. It is powered by a hexa-core Snapdragon 808 processor clocked at 1.8GHz with Adreno 418 GPU and 3GB of RAM. We used the device for some time during the launch (check the video below) and have already done the unboxing as well. So far the hexa-core Snapdragon 808 performance seems quite decent, but you should stay tuned for our final verdict.

On the camera front, the Moto X Style has a 21-megapixel rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, f/2.0 aperture. It also supports slow-motion videos and 4K video recording. The secondary front-facing camera is a 5-megapixel shooter with LED flash, which has a 87-degree wide-angle lens with f/2.0 aperture and 1.4um pixel.

The Indian variant of the Moto X style can accommodate two SIM cards (Nano-SIM) and supports 4G LTE on both slots. It runs Android 5.1.1 (Lollipop) out-of-the-box, and not the Marshmallow., but will get upgraded soon.

The 16GB and 32GB inbuilt storage can be expanded via microSD card slot (up to 128GB). Other connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11a/g/b/n/ac (dual band), Bluetooth 4.1 LE, GPS, GLONASS, and NFC.

The phone is backed by a 3000mAh non-removable battery with Turbo Charging capabilities, and you also get the 2-pin Motorola Turbo charger (9V / 1.67A or 12V / 1.2A (15W)) bundled in the retail unit.

The Motorola Moto X Style also has a water-repellent nano coating that keeps water away to a certain extent and has IP52 rating.
