Samsung Gear S2 Unboxing

Samsung introduced the Gear S2 and the Gear S2 Classic at the IFA last month. We brought you the hands-on impressions of the Gear S2 from the event, here we have the unboxing of the smartwatch.

The Gear S2 has a 1.2-inch ( 360×360 pixels) Circular Super AMOLED display with a rotating bezel.  It is powered by a 1 GHz Dual-Core Exynos 3250 processor,  512MB RAM and 4GB of internal memory. It runs on Tizen based wearable platform and is also has IP67 certification for dust and water resistance. The new Gear S2 series work with most Android devices running on Android 4.4 (Kitkat) or later with 1.5GB RAM and above, unlike the Gear S that works only with some Samsung smartphones.

The power and back buttons are present on the right side to access notifications and applications easily. There is also a tiny microphone for voice commands. It comes with a silicone band that offers a minimal and modern design compared to the Gear S2 classic that has a black finish with a matching genuine leather band for a premium look.

On the back it has a heart rate sensor. It also has other sensors such as Accelerometer, Gyroscope, Heart Rate, Ambient Light and Barometer. It has WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1 and NFC support.

The Gear S2 packs a 250mAh Li-ion battery and has wireless charging. You just need to place the smartwatch on the cradle for it to charge. The Samsung Gear S2 and S2 Classic went on sale in the US earlier this month for $299.99 and $349.99. It was expected to launch in India earlier this week, but it didn’t happen. Looks like we have to wait for few more weeks for it launch in the country.
